Feather of a Peacock

I made this card sometimes last week with one of the stamps from Rubber Romance. I was making this card for the "Rubber Romance Peacocks" class, but not really happy with the way this one has turned out.. I think this card has way too much going on, even for me ;-) .. So, I did not include it in the class, but I thought I would show it to you anyways..

This is a huge card, it measures 5 1/2" x 8 1/2".


I created background with the die inks and the Encore ink, this technique is called Polished Stone. The feather was heat embosssed with black embossing powder. The greeting is from Lizzie Anne Designs stamp set.

I still do love this gorgeous stamp, one day I will pull it out again and see if I can come up with something better.. but this is what it is for now.

Inside of the card..

I just LOVE the simplicity of this card!! The Peacock was heat embossed in black and then I used Nestabilites to cut and emboss the circle. Cuttlebug Swiss Dots on the white background layer. With Scor-Pal embossed the horizontal line under the embossed dots. Greeting is heat embossed as well. Inside of the card, I first dry embossed the frame with Scor-Pal and then adhered the corners.

The Peacock stamp is by Rubber Romance and the greeting is from Lizzie Anne Designs "Say it in Script" stamp set. Both of these are available at Cranberry Hill Mercantile. You can call the store at 408-736-9151 during business hours to place your order and it will be shipped to you.

Wow, this card took me a while to make.. Can't really tell by looking at it, but the card went through so many changes.. But here it is, and I am pretty happy with the result.

Because of the shiny metallic paper and the sparkly Stickles it was hard to take photos of this card, this one definitely looks much better in real life. Please click on photos to enlarge if you would like to see the details.

Inside of the card..

Peacock was heat embossed in black on metallic paper from Bazzil. Dry embossed the frame around this layer with Scor-Pal and then heat embossed gold on the edges. Corners are from Cuttlebug.. am I stuck on these or what? I think this is a card number four in a row that I use these corners on, I think they are so versatile though. I attached black ribbon on the bottom of the metallic green layer, then wrapped gold cord around it three times and tied the bow. This layer is raised on pop up dots as well as the layer with the bird. On the inside, I used the negative parts of the Cuttlebug corners.

I absolutely LOVE this stamp from Rubber Romance!! It is the same image that I have on the framed poster at my house!! So, when I saw the stamp I absolutely had to have it!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!

Inside of the card..


The image was stamped on brown cardstock, colored with Copic Markers and then I applied Diamond Glaze over the cat. That's the reason you see the shadows on the cat on the photos, he is just too shiny and I had hard time taking the pictures.

Black panel was embossed with Cuttlebug Textile folder and then distressed with Gold Encore ink. Cuttlebug corner die cuts on the front of the card as well as inside of the card.

When I saw this stamp from Rubber Romance, I knew that I would make a card with the awning. I love-love-love this stamp!!

I first embossed the image on Esse White cardstock. Even though Esse White is not a watercolor paper, it does have a texture that feels like it is. I then colored the image with the Pearlascent watercolors. Every time I use these, I am amazed at how inexpensive they are but yet you can achive such gorgeous results with them. I wish you could see all the shimmer in the photo, it looks very pretty in real life. The white layer was embossed with Rectangular Nestabilites and sponged yellow ink around the image. Scallops on the "awning" were done with Fiskars border punch. Awning is raised on the card on pop up dots. The greeting inside of the card is from the Hero Arts stamp set. Edited to add..
