Trinket Box with Dress Up Marci

Today I would like to share another Trinket Box project.  I had an idea of using the "Polaroid" frame and also wanted to do 3D paper piecing again.  For the paper piecing on Dress Up Marci I cut about 6 stamped images including two from designer paper, shaped and layered them together.  It is still not as "shapely" as I would liked it to be, for some reason after a while some of the parts flattened, but I still like the result.  I really need to look for a different type of adhesive.

This is one of the projects for my MARCH Workshop.

Marci with Tulip - Water Can Shaped card

This is one of the project that I designed for the Make-and-Take at our Booth at CHA Winter 2012.  I am sorry that I am late showing it.  We were busy getting ready for CHA, busy during CHA and then got even busier after CHA with all the orders!!  :-)

As you can see this is a Water Can shaped card.  I cut the shape with my Silhouette.  On this card I used one of our new stamps - this is Marci with Tulip!  This stamp is now available in our online store, click HERE.  The die behind Marci is an exclusive die from Scrap Happy Ohio, you can find it HERE.  Butterflies are punches from Martha Stewart.

Marci with Flower - Prismacolor Pencils

Here is a simple but pretty card made with Marci with Flower stamp from La-La Land Crafts.  Marci with Flower was colored with Prismacolor Pencils!  I am sure having fun with pencils these days :-)

I have only about 45 pencils, but I am pretty happy with all the color combinations I can come up with this limited palette.  And, my new set of 150 pencils is on the way and should arrive this Friday!!  YAY!!

I made this card as a sample for my Prismacolor Pencils Workshops.  If you would like to attend, check out my Class and Workshop Schedule HERE.

This card measures 5 3/4" x 5 3/4".

Milk Carton Marci Project

I admit, I LOVE project which have anything to do with Houses!  When I saw the most awesome tutorial on Whiff of Joy blog, I fell in LOVE with the project and the idea of making a milk carton to look like a house.  It is so perfect that I almost ordered both the die and the large die cutting machine just to make the project.  Then I had one of those AHA!! moments ;-)  WOOHOO!!  See, my new Silhouette Cameo cuts 12" x 12" paper and I can now make larger projects!!  I even found a template for the milk carton and after about an hour playing with different sizes, here it is!  TADA!!

I closed the top of the container to create the roof, but you can still open it on the bottom.  It is sooo cute!!  Seriously!!  An absolutely perfect container to use for the holiday gift giving.  I am going to make a summery one later on too, really want to make one with our Marci with Flower.

Thank you SO MUCH for the inspiration Angie!

The Lamp Post was also cut out of chipboard with my Silhouette, yes - it now cuts thin chipboard too!!

I thought that our Autumn Marci would fit this project the best.  I paper pieced Marci's beret and dress.

Marci and Luka CALENDAR

I had this idea in my head for quiet awhile now and then when I went to work on it, it didn't turned out the way I thought it would.  A lot of scraps into the garbage can, but here is the result.  I do like it even more than my original idea though :-)  I know I will love having my favorite Marci and Luka displayed on my desk all year long.

I used wooden album covers for the base of my calendar.  The base measures 7" x 7" and the calendar pages are 6" x 6".  Each page has a side pocket with a calendar tacked inside.  Pullout tabs have the names of the months of them.  What's great about having calendar in the pockets and not permanently attached is that you can use it the next year too by just printing the another year calendar.   And, if you ever get tired of it, you can use the fronts to make cards!!

The pockets can also be used to store some photos/memorabilia throughout the year, and/or you can tuck in some special notes, etc.

I should add that this is still a work in progress.  So far I've done 2 months - January and November.  Yes, I am not going in chronological order.  Luka with Pumpkin was calling my name!!  LOL

Most likely I will also add something to the covers too.  Still trying to decide.  And you can also add ribbons and twines to the book rings to make them festive to your preference.

I have been practicing coloring folds and pleats and Witch Marci's dress is just perfect for this technique!! This technique is certainly not one of those things when you would say that it looks easier than it looks, in fact I think in this instance it is actually much harder than it looks and sure takes a lot of time and practice!!

The other new thing for me on this card - paper pleats!!  What fun!!  I should do this more often as it adds so much more texture to the project than a flat border.

Project Recipe:
Stamps: Witch Marci by La-La Land Crafts, Tickets by Tim Holtz
Papers: Black and Craft Cardstock by Bazzill, Pink Paisley DP, Echo Park DP

Ruffles Marci Stationary/Trinket Box

Wow, wow, wow!!  I hadn't made any projects since our last CHA in July!!!  FINALLY here is a NEW one!!

And I got to play with the NEW Marci stamp too!!  This is Ruffles Marci!!  This stamp is not even released yet, so consider this to be a sneak peek ;-)

I created a Stationary/Trinket Box to showcase our new Marci.  I created my own template for the box and the lid.  The box is pretty big, it measures 6" x 6" x 2".  Inside dimensions are 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" with a divider.  The way I positioned my divider my box will fit regular size cards and postage stamps, pens, etc. - making it a Stationary Box.  However, this box can be used for pretty much anything if you move divider, make two or even four slots there to create a trinket box.  Or, you can leave one big space and store whatever your heart desires in it!!

This is one of the projects for my SEPTEMBER Workshop

SEPTEMBER Workshop is scheduled for:
Sunday, September 25th
10 am to 6 pm
at Scrapbook Island in San Jose, CA

This Workshop is by invitation only.  If you would like to attend but did not receive an Evite invitation from me, please email me at irina_ca@msn.com and I will add you onto the list.

I've seen other crafters making the images look like 3D without using pop dots but instead shaping the elements on the image.   This is my first time giving an image some dimension this way.  I really, really, really love how my Marci has turned out!!  I took quite a few pictures to show you so hopefully photos do it the justice.
Oh, and those dots on Marci's hair band - they are not a part of a stamp, I drew them with my Memento Marker.  I thought it was a nice touch :-)

Project Recipe:
Stamps: Ruffles Marci by La-La Land Crafts (available late September), Post Card by Whimsy Stamps, Tickets by Tim Holtz
